Neo-Mediterranean Retreat in the Heart of the City

So many of our clients refer to their holiday destinations when deciding what themes they wish to stick with, and in this case the theme stuck through tot he conclusion of the space.

Spain, Italy, Greece, mix them all together with what can be found here in New Zealand and you get this Neo-Mediterranean yard.

The space had to be designed with a dog in mind, who loved the sprint the length of the garden while I measured, so keeping open patches and stretches was important in my mind from the get go, but also having the focal features being pride of place.

Originally, the spa and deck were a combined structure, so the client could step easily off the deck into the spa, however a tricky hidden pipe meant that we had to pivot, the end result with the deck being the center of the garden, a covered dining environment, and the spa a beautifully secluded oasis at the end of the section, surrounded by olives, kwila screening, and silence.

I couldn't be happier with the end result, and am so happy that the client can get full use out of the garden, hidden storage and vege beds and all.
